If you’re here, something in your life may feel heavy…
Many of my clients come to therapy because they’re tired of feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood, or disconnected from themselves. You might notice:
• Trouble trusting yourself or others
• People-pleasing, perfectionism, or feeling “not enough”
• Confusion or emotional pain around faith, church, or identity
• Anxiety, sadness, or shame that lingers even when life looks “fine”
• Feeling numb, shut down, or easily overwhelmed
• Old wounds resurfacing in relationships
If any of this sounds like you, you’re not broken — you just needed a different kind of support.
Meet Sandy, Denver Therapist
I’m Sandy Brown, a Denver therapist offering trauma-informed therapy for adults. My goal is to walk alongside you with compassion and curiosity as you rediscover safety, strength, and self-trust.
Together, we’ll use a gentle, integrative approach:
Body awareness to notice how stress shows up and bring calm back into your nervous system
Parts work to better understand and care for the different parts of you that hold pain or try to protect you
Relational healing to practice setting boundaries, deepening trust, and experiencing connection in new ways
Practical tools to manage anxiety, lift depression, and support you in daily life
Many clients share that therapy helps them feel more grounded, less overwhelmed, and more at home in themselves.
Support that meets you where you are
Together we’ll explore what you need, understand your story with care, and create a personalized, trauma-informed therapy experience that supports real growth, grounding, and alignment.
Anxiety Therapy
Do worry, racing thoughts, or physical tension interfere with your daily life?
We help adults manage anxious thoughts, calm the nervous system, and build confidence. You’ll learn practical tools to reduce stress, stay present, and navigate uncertainty with more ease.
Depression Therapy
Feeling drained, disconnected, or hopeless?
Therapy helps you process difficult emotions, identify what’s keeping you stuck, and build strategies to reconnect with motivation, joy, and hope. You can feel more engaged and confident in your life again.
Church Hurt & Faith Questioning Therapy
Experiencing church hurt, spiritual trauma, or questioning your faith?
We support adults navigating spiritual harm, faith transitions, and church-related emotional pain. Therapy helps you process spiritual wounds, reclaim personal meaning, and rebuild trust in yourself and others.
Childhood Abuse & Neglect Therapy
Even if your childhood “seems fine,” past experiences can impact your adult life.
We help adults process trauma and neglect, understand coping patterns, and rebuild self-trust and healthy relationships. Healing is possible at any stage of life.
Identity, Safety, and Wholeness Therapy
Do you ever feel disconnected from yourself, unsure of who you are, or like something inside is missing?
I help you explore those feelings, manage stress, and safely reconnect with your body, emotions, and sense of identity. Together, we’ll build grounding skills so you can feel more whole, present, and safe in your daily life.
Trust Issues & Relationship Therapy
Do you find it hard to trust others, set boundaries, or feel safe in relationships?
I work with adults who have been through difficult or unhealthy relationship dynamics. Together, we’ll look at patterns that may no longer serve you, rebuild your self-trust, and develop tools for creating safer, more balanced connections.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Self Aligned Therapy is a private pay practice, which means we do not bill insurance directly. We are not a Medicaid provider. If you have Medicaid coverage that includes mental health services, I am not able to offer mental health services to you.
Many of our clients choose to pay out-of-pocket for greater privacy and flexibility in their care. If you have out-of-network benefits, we can provide a superbill upon request, which you may submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement.
If you’re unsure about your out-of-network benefits, we’re happy to guide you in what to ask your insurance company.
-
Absolutely! You’re able to use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) card to pay for therapy services.

Our practice is very flexible in how often you can meet. Clients are welcome to have sessions multiple times a week, once a week, every other week, etc. The traditional session length is 50 minutes; however, we also offer sessions for 75 minutes, or longer. Longer sessions are very beneficial for clients who feel 50 minutes is not enough time to meet.
-
Self Aligned Therapy provides outpatient individual psychotherapy, typically meeting once or twice per week, depending on your needs and goals. Sessions are offered both in person in Denver, CO, and virtually for residents across Colorado.
This practice does not provide psychiatric services, medication management, hospital admission, or crisis intervention. I am also not available between sessions for emergency support.
If you’re needing a higher level of care, I can help you identify providers or programs that specialize in those services while we focus on your emotional well-being through therapy.
If you are in crisis, please call the Colorado Crisis Line at 1-844-493-8255, text TALK to 38255, dial 988, or call 911.

Sessions are collaborative, grounded, and attuned to what you’re ready for. Some days might look like talk therapy and reflection, while others may focus more on somatic awareness or parts work. We might explore your inner child, set boundaries, or process emotions related to past experiences, always at your pace. This is your space to be curious, feel safe, and reconnect with yourself.

Healing from developmental trauma or chronic emotional neglect isn’t linear, and everyone’s timeline is different. Some clients come weekly for a season, while others work with me over a longer stretch of time as deeper layers come into focus. We’ll check in regularly to make sure therapy continues to feel helpful and aligned with your goals.

If you’ve struggled with feeling “too much” or “not enough,” have a hard time trusting yourself, or feel stuck in cycles of anxiety, shame, or disconnection, trauma therapy may help. You don’t need a specific diagnosis or a “big trauma” to begin. If something in you knows it’s time to heal, that’s enough.

You can start by reaching out through my contact form. I’ll follow up to schedule a free 20-minute phone consultation where we can talk about what’s bringing you in, what you’re hoping for, and any questions you have. If it feels like a good fit, we’ll schedule your first session and go from there.
