Trauma Therapy for Adults in Denver
You understand so much about yourself. You deserve to feel connected to yourself, too.
You may understand where your patterns come from and still find it hard to trust your needs or let yourself be fully known.
I’m Sandy. Through somatic therapy, parts work, and a collaborative relationship, we’ll explore what you learned about yourself and practice new ways of being and connecting.

It can be hard to trust yourself when you’ve learned to question what you feel.
You may have been told you were too sensitive, expected too much, or needed to be different to fit in. Over time, those messages can become the way you talk to yourself.
Today, that might look like:
Looking to others before trusting your own decisions.
Feeling guilty when you express a need or set a boundary.
Holding back because you’re unsure how you’ll be received.
Living by familiar expectations while wondering what you want.
Being harder on yourself than you would be on someone you love.
I believe you deserve room to discover who you are beyond those messages. Together, we’ll explore what you learned about yourself and make room for what feels true to you now.
A place to try something different
Our relationship is part of the work. We can talk about your experiences and pay attention to what happens as you share them with me.
That might mean:
Saying you disagree and finding that we can stay connected.
Asking for something without having to justify the need.
Sharing something vulnerable and being met with care.
Noticing when you’re looking for the “right” answer.
Letting yourself pause instead of pushing through.
Telling me when something doesn’t feel helpful.
You don’t have to arrive knowing how to do any of this. We’ll notice, talk, and practice together.
How we work together
Somatic Therapy
Notice tension, numbness, and other body signals. Together, we explore gentle ways to feel more grounded and respond to stress with greater choice.
Parts Work
Get curious about the parts of you that criticize, please others, or shut down. We explore what they protect and practice meeting them with compassion.
Attachment Therapy
Understand how earlier relationships shape trust, closeness, and boundaries. Our work makes room to practice connection while honoring your needs.

I work with adults navigating childhood trauma, religious trauma, anxiety, and relationship patterns. Many are thoughtful, insightful people who have spent years understanding themselves and caring for others. They want to feel closer to themselves and more fully known in their relationships.
My style is warm, down to earth, and collaborative. I want to understand how you experience things, including what I might be missing. You can ask questions, disagree, change your mind, or tell me you’re unsure.
You get to have a say in the pace and direction of our work.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Somatic therapy brings your body’s experience into the conversation. Along with exploring thoughts and emotions, we might notice tension, breathing, numbness, or the urge to pull away. We use that awareness to explore your responses and find ways to feel more grounded, connected, and able to choose how you respond.
-
We start with what feels important to you. As we talk, I may invite you to notice a sensation, look around the room, explore a small movement, or try a grounding practice. You can decline any invitation, and we adjust the pace together.
-
You might notice that part of you wants connection while another part wants to retreat. Parts work offers a way to understand these different responses with curiosity rather than criticism. My approach draws on IFS to explore what these parts are protecting and what they need.
-
Attachment focused therapy gives us space to explore what happens when closeness feels uncertain, conflict arises, or you worry about being rejected. We can work with patterns such as seeking reassurance, shutting down, or putting others’ needs first. Together, we practice expressing your needs, setting boundaries, and building trust at a pace that respects you.
-
You don’t need to share every detail to begin therapy. We can focus on how past experiences affect you now while building support for difficult feelings and body responses. You have a say in what we explore and when.
-
Knowing why you react a certain way doesn’t always make it easier to respond differently. Somatic therapy and parts work offer opportunities to explore what happens in those moments and practice new responses. We’ll also talk about what has and hasn’t helped in previous therapy.
-
My fee is $150 for a 50 minute session. Self Aligned Therapy is a private pay practice, and I don’t bill insurance directly. I can provide a superbill for possible reimbursement through your out of network benefits, and I accept HSA and FSA payments. Coverage and reimbursement depend on your plan.

Yes. I offer in person sessions in Denver and online sessions for clients who are physically located in Colorado at the time of their appointment. We can discuss which option fits your needs during a consultation.
-
You don’t have to decide whether the word “trauma” fits before seeking support. We can begin with what you’re experiencing now, whether that’s anxiety, disconnection, relationship difficulties, or feeling constantly on guard. You don’t need to compare your experiences with anyone else’s to deserve care.
-
We’ll briefly discuss what brings you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and how I work. You can ask questions about my approach, fees, scheduling, or anything else that would help you decide. There’s no pressure to book a session.
You Can Begin With a Conversation.
